The Merino Country team gets styled at the Styling Station

In our factory we usually dress for the hard work that goes on behind the seams and we also wear the products we make.  Recently, owners of Merino Country, Kerrie & Mal, decided that it would be great as a treat to step outside our comfort zone and be styled by professionals.

As recognition for the contribution in our workplace, our staff had a fabulous time at Brisbane's most sustainable personal styling service - Styling Station based in Milton. The ladies were treated to an evening out where the wonderful team of Stylists from Styling Station helped each of us pick out an outfit that not only looked great for the occasions we chose, but also felt fabulous!

Styling Station is a not for profit organisation that helps disadvantaged women as well as being a completely sustainable business by diverting fashion from landfill. Many fashion brands actually send unsold items and overstock to landfill for various reasons.

Styling Station has provided a way for good fashion to be diverted away from landfill. They have a pay it forward scheme where when you book in a styling session with them you're also providing a disadvantaged woman with their services. Each of their styling sessions also comes with a complimentary outfit!

We had the pleasure of meeting guest Stylist, Robin Bailey - Radio presenter and fashion icon who joined the team for the night. The Styling Station team were all volunteers for the night and had Merino Country model - Karen, also known as Sustainable Styling, Dulce the Artisan Stylist and Sally. The team assisted each of us, one on one, giving tips on how to enhance our style and comfort. Simple things like tucking in a top, or popping on a belt, a slightly different style shoe, made all the difference.

Karen Uhlmann, also one of Merino Country's favourite models, lead the night with some information on the waste from the fashion industry and how Styling Station has diverted over 20,000 new clothing items and accessories from landfill! We also shared the roles we all play in producing our amazing Merino products along with nibblies, bubbles & plenty of laughs!
